Idaho Smokehouse Partners has expanded its recall of ready-to-eat meat products to include both beef and turkey sticks that may contain metal fragments, according to updated information released on March 21, 2025.
The company initially recalled approximately 29,541 pounds of "CHOMPS ORIGINAL BEEF STICK MILD" produced from January 13-15, 2025, according to the FSIS announcement. Chomps has now voluntarily extended the recall to include additional beef lots manufactured through January 23, as well as Original Turkey sticks, according to the company's website.
"The issue was discovered after Chomps investigated two consumer complaints reporting the potential presence of metal fragment in the meat stick product," the company stated in its consumer notice. "This internal recall was initiated as a precautionary measure out of an abundance of caution."
The affected products can be identified by lot codes printed at the bottom of each stick below the barcode. For beef sticks, the impacted lots include codes 6220A 25016, 6220A 25017, 6220A 25018, 6220A 25020, 6220A 25021, and 6220A 25022. Turkey stick recalls apply to products with codes P6220A 25022 and P6220A 25023.
All recalled items bear establishment number "6220A" ink-jetted on the package and were primarily distributed to retail locations in California and Illinois.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service expressed concern that potentially contaminated products may remain in consumers' pantries. No injuries or adverse reactions have been confirmed in connection with consumption of these products.
Consumers who purchased the affected sticks are urged not to consume them and should return them to their retailer for a refund. Questions regarding the recall can be directed to Idaho Smokehouse Partners at 208-227-5282.
