A consensus report from the 2024 International Myopia Summit in Singapore outlined three strategic priorities to combat the rising global burden of myopia. They are: redefining myopia as a disease with specific phenotypic features and stages, intensifying efforts to prevent high myopia, and developing diagnostics and treatments for pathologic myopia. The expert panel emphasized the need for early intervention, increased daily outdoor time, and investment in treatment innovation that is driven by advances in technology and behavioral changes to address the myopia pandemic.
