Attention private practice owners: The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) opened two Business Recovery Centers in Los Angeles County yesterday for those who have experienced losses from the wildfires that started Jan. 7, according to an SBA press release.

“At these centers, business owners can meet face-to-face with specialists to apply for disaster loans and access a wide range of resources to guide them through their recovery,” sayid Francisco Sánchez Jr., in the press release. Sanchez is the SBA’s associate administrator for the Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience.

In-person appointments can be made at appointment.sba.gov, though walk-ins are accepted.

Any-sized small businesses and private non-profit (PNP) organizations can apply for business physical disaster loans and may borrow up to $2 million for damaged equipment, inventory, and destroyed real estate, among other business assets, according to the press release.

The interest rates for the loans are 4% for small businesses and 3.625% for PNPs. Neither payments nor interest accrual occurs until 1 year from receipt of the first loan disbursement, which is based on an applicant’s financial condition.

The filing deadline for physical property damage is March 10, while the deadline for economic injury applications is Oct. 8.
