Prenatal exposure to acetaminophen has been linked to an increased risk of neurodevelopmental disorders, particularly attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). A systematic review of 46 studies revealed that while 27 indicated positive associations, others showed no effect or suggested protective outcomes. The developing fetal brain, sensitive to environmental factors, is particularly vulnerable during pregnancy. The review underscores the need for cautious use of acetaminophen in pregnant women due to potential long-term impacts on child development.
