A cohort study led by Thomas F. McElrath from Brigham Women’s Hospital examined the US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) guidelines for identifying preeclampsia risk in 5,684 pregnant patients from July 2020 to March 2023. The findings revealed that almost 89% were deemed at increased risk, primarily due to moderate risk factors, yet only nulliparity significantly predicted preeclampsia risk (RR 1.48). High-risk patients showed a 82% recommendation for aspirin prophylaxis, underscoring the need for improved risk assessment tools.
