A study examining sleep patterns of first-time mothers from before pregnancy through 13 weeks postpartum using wearable devices revealed a significant drop in average daily sleep time and uninterrupted sleep stretch during the first postpartum week. Although sleep duration somewhat improved over time, sleep consolidation remained reduced throughout the 13-week period. The findings suggest that fragmented sleep patterns persist for the first 3 months after childbirth, indicating a need for further investigation on their impact on maternal health.
