A national cross-sectional analysis of the 2022 Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project National Inpatient Sample found that pregnant patients with renal calculi had significantly higher rates of labor and delivery complications compared with those without kidney stones (84.7% vs 28.8%) and experienced longer hospital stays (mean 5.12 vs 2.56 days). Renal calculi were associated with increased risks of maternal morbidity and preterm delivery, with higher odds of complications observed among patients with Medicare or Medicaid coverage and those from lower-income or more rural communities.
