An international research team has identified five gynecologic conditions that often coexist with interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS), emphasizing the necessity for comprehensive evaluation and multidisciplinary care in chronic pelvic pain patients. Characterized by pelvic discomfort without identifiable causes, IC/BPS predominantly affects individuals assigned female at birth and is frequently underdiagnosed due to symptom overlap. The study highlights the significant association of conditions such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, vulvodynia, female sexual dysfunction, and overactive pelvic floor muscles with IC/BPS.
