A case-control study across eight U.S. healthcare systems found no statistically significant association between receiving a COVID-19 vaccine during early pregnancy and the risk of spontaneous abortion. Analyzing data from 888 pregnant patients, the study showed that vaccination exposure rates were similar between the spontaneous abortion and live birth groups, with adjusted odds ratios indicating no increased risk. Manual review of medical records confirmed the pregnancy outcomes, and standardized protocols validated live births, leading the investigators to conclude that COVID-19 vaccination during early pregnancy is not linked to an increased risk of miscarriage.
