An umbrella review synthesized 64 reviews and graded 54 maternal, perinatal, and care-delivery factors for neonatal mortality. Probable risks included maternal age ≥35 years, maternal complications (e.g., hypertensive and hemorrhagic disorders, anemia), preterm birth, low birth weight, and breastfeeding started ≥24 hours; antenatal care and facility delivery showed probable protective effects. Methods followed a registered protocol with AMSTAR-2 appraisal; five included reviews did not have meta-analyses. Limitations included heterogeneity, inconsistent publication-bias assessment, and limited generalizability beyond low- and middle-income settings; the study reported no funding and no conflicts.
