A multinational cohort study found that patients diagnosed with COVID-19 face significantly increased risks of psychiatric and neuropsychiatric disorders within the first 6 months postinfection. Risk for depression, anxiety disorders, sleep disorders, and dementia were observed across France, Italy, Germany, the U.K., and the U.S. Further research is needed to understand the underlying mechanisms and develop interventions.
