Stroke survivors with higher education levels exhibited faster declines in executive function following a stroke, despite initially scoring higher in cognitive tests. This recent study, led by Dr. Mellanie V. Springer, MD, MS, from the University of Michigan, assessed cognitive decline after stroke in relation to educational attainment. The findings suggest that while higher education correlated with superior initial cognitive performance post-stroke, it also associated with greater declines in executive function over time.
