A recent analysis of over 250,000 electronic health records published in JAAD International reveals that Black and Hispanic patients with vitiligo have a significantly higher risk of depression compared to their peers without the condition. Specifically, Black patients exhibit over double the odds of depression, while Hispanic patients show a 45% increased risk. The findings indicate racial disparities in mental health burdens associated with vitiligo, highlighting the need for improved access to dermatologic and mental health services. The study analyzed data from the NIH All of Us Research Program from 2018 to 2024.
