A nationwide study in Taiwan involving 197,895 cancer patients reveals that those with autoimmune skin diseases (ASDs) showed improved survival rates post-cancer treatment. The study highlights reduced all-cause and cancer-specific mortality in ASD patients, particularly in those with alopecia areata and Sjögren syndrome. Analyzing data from 2019 to 2021, researchers observed treatment benefits across different cancer stages and therapies. These findings suggest that the immune mechanisms associated with ASDs may play a role in enhancing cancer prognosis, warranting further investigation.
