- Severe mucous membrane pemphigoid (MMP) patients have more than double the risk of nonmelanoma skin cancers compared to matched controls. 2. Increased risks observed for squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, non-melanoma skin cancer in severe MMP cases receiving systemic immunosuppressive therapy. 3. Routine skin cancer surveillance recommended for patients with MMP, especially those with severe disease.
