Recent observations reveal that smooth yellow nodules on the lip, typically deemed benign, can represent basal cell carcinoma (BCC) in rare instances. A case series in Canada identified four such cases among ten biopsy-confirmed lip BCCs from 2000 to 2023. These cases, which were mistaken for benign tumors due to their appearance, highlighted the rarity of BCC on lip surfaces. The study underscores the importance of considering BCC in differential diagnoses of persistent lip lesions and emphasizes the need for histopathological evaluation to confirm diagnosis.
