Researchers demonstrated that awake prone positioning (APP) for at least 10 hours per day was associated with higher survival without intubation in patients with COVID-19 infections and acute hypoxemic respiratory failure. The meta-analysis included data from 14 randomized clinical trials comprising 3,019 participants, revealing that APP improved clinical outcomes compared with supine positioning. The findings highlighted the significant benefits of maintaining awake prone positioning for this patient population, with prolonged duration of APP conferring greater benefits.
